Born and raised in Timperley, Paula is a qualified and experienced textile designer with a working career spanning over 13 years. She started out by completing a multidisciplinary course in art and design which then lead onto a HND course in design crafts at Cumbria College of Art and Design, Carlisle, both courses gave her the opportunity to explore, learn and experience hands on different media of art from photography, graphics, textiles etc. with the main core element in both courses being drawing and painting. Paula specialises in printed textiles which lead her onto her career in designing children’s wear for many years, then moving into the home/hospitality industry designing for hotel interiors. Throughout her career she has worked closely with machinists on producing garments and bed/bath/table linens commercial fabric printers and many fabric houses all which she has enjoyed and learnt a great deal from.
Paula has continued with her love of art by drawing and painting in her spare time when she can, Recently she has adopted the art and technique of quilling. Quilling dates back to the 18th century and involved the use of strips of paper rolled and glued to create decorative designs.
